Team Introduction:
The research team consists of four members, all of whom have doctoral degrees and visiting experience in the United States, Singapore and other places.
The team leader, Prof. Wei-Guang Zhang is the director of scientific committee in School of Chemistry(2020-2024), member of special committee on discipline planning and academic development of SCNU, and distinguished teacher of SCNU. He is the executive director of Guangdong Pharmaceutical Association, chairman of professional committee on pharmaceutical chirality, expert in drug registration evaluation of GD-FDA and GZ-FDA, member of the first academic committee of the unveiling ceremony of the “Center of Astrochemistry and Space Life Sciences”, chief scientific officer of Guangdong Yanjie Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. Prof. Zhang has conducting research on novel chiral separation materials and chiral recognition in turn at National University of Singapore (2004.1-2005.11, research scientist) and Lawrence National Laboratory of University of California-Berkeley (2010.7-2011.2, guest scientists).
The team members have research backgrounds in inorganic synthesis, organic synthesis, chiral separation materials, chromatography separation technology, chiral recognition and drug performance evaluation. They presided over 8 NFSC research projects, 3 projects funded by Ministry of science and technology, over 40 projects supported by Ministry of education, Guangdong Province, Guangzhou City and Development Zone. The team has more than ten million yuan of scientific research funds. Relevant research results won the second prize of excellent scientific research achievements (Science and Technology) of the Ministry of education in 2019. Three series of more than 20 kinds of chiral separation materials for cyclodextrin derivatives, cellulose derivatives and amylose derivatives have been developed. These have been industrialized in Guangzhou Research & Creativity Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and have been widely used in many listed pharmaceutical enterprises, universities and new drug research institutes, with direct economic benefits of more than 50 million yuan. We have formulated 8 technical standards for chiral chromatographic column products, and authorized 6 patents. The team members published over 200 researches on Advanced Materials, Chemical Science, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces Biosensors & Bioelectronics, Chemical Communications, Journal of Chromatography A, Chemistry-A European Journal, Crystal Growth and Design, Talanta, Analytica Chimica Acta and other foreign and domestic academic journals.
Main research field of the research team:
(1) Design, synthesis and industrialization of novel materials for chiral medicine separation.
(2) Technology of chiral chromatographic separation and mechanism of chiral recognition
(3) Design and performance of novel MOFs/COFs crystal materials
