Team Profile:
In recent years, the team has developed based on provincial key disciplines – chemistry and materials science and relied on the provincial and municipal platforms including Guangdong Energy Conversion and Energy Storage Materials Engineering Technology Research Center and Guangzhou Key Experiments on Energy Conversion and Energy Storage Materials in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The research is aimed at the preparation and performance research of new materials for various types of batteries, power tools, micro-nano motors/generators and other devices, exploring and solving key scientific issues in the process of energy storage and conversion, and establishing close cooperation of Industry-university-research among chemical engineering, energy, and materials companies, to realize the efficient application of new materials in power tools, new energy vehicles, portable electronic equipment/products, biomedicine, environmental governance, etc., and promote the development of new materials and new energy and related industrial technology upgrades in Guangdong area.
The team is currently mainly involved in 4 research areas, including: (1) Functional porous crystalline materials and applications; (2) Electrochemical technology and devices; (3) Micro/nano motor/robot drive and applications; (4) Organic solar cell materials and devices.
Presently, there are 11 core members in the team, 3 of which has senior professional title, 6 has vice-senior professional title, and 2 are post-doctoral fellows, and 55% of total have overseas study experience. Team members include 1 national-level training object of the "Thousand Hundred Ten Project" of Guangdong universities, and 1 young Pearl River scholar of Guangdong Province. So far, the team has published more than 300 SCI papers in international authoritative academic journals such as Acc. Chem. Res., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Mater., ACS Nano. There are more than 30 papers with an impact factor greater than 10, and 5 highly cited papers. So far, the papers have been cited more than 5000 times by peers at home and abroad. The authorized invention patents include 15 national and 3 international patents.
The team has presided over nearly 60 vertical and horizontal projects, and received more than 22 million yuan in research funding. These include the Major Research Plan of the Natural Science Foundation (cultivation projects), the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Youth Foundation Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Key Program of the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, and the Special Key Program of the Guangdong Science and Technology Plan. Team members have won 3 awards in the national, provincial and ministerial level. Cultivate 42 master and doctoral students, 4 of whom won the Guangdong Excellent Master Thesis Award.
The team instructed undergraduates to win the second prize (twice) and the third prize (once) in the National Undergraduate "Challenge Cup" Competition, and the grand prize (five times) of the Guangdong Provincial University Students "Challenge Cup" Competition. The team members won the National and Guangdong University Student "Challenge Cup" Outstanding Instructor Award once each. Graduates have successively entered universities, scientific research institutes, high-tech enterprises, middle schools, etc., and have been highly praised and recognized by employers!
